1.3.13

Welcome to the Pog blog! It keeping with the theme of "Freedom" shared in Sunday's message we embrace the following reading for today!

Galatians 3: 26 So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, 27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. 4: 1What I am saying is that as long as an heir is underage, he is no different from a slave, although he owns the whole estate. The heir is subject to guardians and trustees until the time set by his father. So also, when we were underage, we were in slavery under the elemental spiritual forces of the world. But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba,Father.”

It is the last line that really grabs my heart's attention today!  Let me recap a little to make sure I get what God is saying to me. I get to call the God of the universe "Abba, Father"!  (I understand 'Abba' is the most endearing, loving and relational term for approaching one's Father) Jesus has made this possible through His death and resurrection.  His sacrifice for me bought me "sonship" in the kingdom of God and because I am a "son" in the kingdom God has sent His Holy Spirit into my heart and this Holy Spirit dwelling in my heart calls out to God the Father in this most endearing, loving, safe, trusting, confident, gracefilled way - "Abba, Father!"  These words are asking me to believe this day that God the Father receives me and my prayers into His heart as He receives Jesus and His prayers!  That I get to approach my Father in heaven in the same confident, clean-slate, no guilt, fully trusting, faith-filled manner that Jesus approaches Him.

Jesus is calling me to believe this and "act' like it!

Today is one of those days I feel a load of responsibility!  I do not know exactly how to handle some of the things I am responsible for!  I feel anxious!  I believe God is asking me to deliberaty move my heart, mind, spirit and body into a place of faith and "believe" that I have an amazing Father to call out to, talk things over with and trust that He will supply all I need to follow Him this day!  In believing that - now I get to act like it!

Challenging but comforting for sure!
