"More Than..."

The scripture for today is Romans 8:31-39!We have been journeying all week in this chapter..... now for the conclusion!

31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God is speaking loudly and clearly to me through these words.  Two words are grabbing my attention, "MORE THAN..."

God is a "more than" God which makes those who trust Him "more than"conquerors!  This is amazing.  Since He is "more than" enough then we can join Paul in saying "If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

When I forget that He is the "more than" God ----I get in trouble and cause trouble!  Under temptation Eve fell for Satan's lie that God was not enough and she needed more than what He gave her!  So Eve and Adam looked to themselves for the "more than" they felt they needed!  It was and still is a disaster.  When I look to my own wisdom and resources and go against God to provide "more than" for myself I will always get less than I need.  I lose!

God proved His "more than" character when He raised Jesus from the dead! "Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us." He is the "more than"God! There is more good news!  Not only is God a "more than" God - He makes us "more than"people as we daily live by faith in Him. "we are more than conquerors through him who loved us."

So I get to believe today that God wants "more than" I can imagine for me today.  He is not stingy!  He is over the top gracious and generous!  I get to believe today that I am a "more than" conqueror as I live through the moments of today's life!  There will be plenty of temptation to think and act like God is not enough and I need to take things in my own control.  I get to say "no" to that voice and say "yes" to my "More Than" God!

Enjoy living in "more than"-ness today!
