Most High God, we know you reign over all. Today we are asking you, we are seeking you, we are knocking on your door, to CONNECT your reign to the people who live in and around the Austin area (or name whatever area you live in). You promised in 2 Corinthians 10:4 that “the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds!”
We CONTEND for our region O Lord! There are strongholds around our city. There are strongholds around our county. There are strongholds in our neighborhoods. We feel them. We bump into them. We sometimes even experience their darkening effects. (Name here societal or cultural sins, strongholds or accepted ungodliness to contend against in prayer)
PUSH BACK against them Almighty God! You are the God of Angel Armies and in Jesus name, we cry out and BIND the darkness which takes root in our city. We boldly pray the weapons of your warfare be unleashed upon our city, bringing healing and restoration where those strongholds have been crushing and bruising and wounding and maiming and fear mongering and weakening. Rip out the narratives of “it’s too late” and “it won’t work” and “we’ve lost this” or “we’ve lost that” (insert other things like this that may come to mind) and replace them with your promises of “BEHOLD, I MAKE ALL THINGS NEW!”
I ask you to ignite a fire in bones of your people and in soul your churches throughout this region, that will not stop burning and cannot be quenched. Make it spread all over the place. Break up and loose all the layers of sediment that the evil one has trapped our region under and show everyone that you are doing a NEW thing, connecting people throughout our city to YOU LORD JESUS!
Jesus, thank you for calling me to contend in prayer with You for spiritual renewal in every heart, home, church and region. Pour out Your Spirit, I pray, awakening the lost to faith, readying Your church to join You in Your mission and sending workers into the fields ripe for harvest.
