"The Lies We Believe!" Part 3 - Replacing Lies with Truth

SERMON NOTES:

“The Lies We Believe!”
Part 3 – Replacing Lies with Truth

Ephesians 6 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist…..

John 8 He (the devil) was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

An agreement happens when we “agree” with an untruth in our inner being.  The enemy often tempts us to enter into agreements in times of vulnerability and weakness and then continues to use them to rob us of joy, hope and life.  They can be deep and long term or mundane even appearing normal.

John 10   10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

1 Peter 5 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith!

How do we deal with agreements?

Ask
for help from Jesus (and others)!

Name the agreement as best you can!
You will know them by their fruit.
            Notice “always” and “never” declarations.
Notice agreements in the categories of “You”, “Others” and “God”!

Renounce the agreement in the authority of Jesus name!

Repent and receive forgiveness for sins associated with the agreement!

Reclaim
Truth in this area of life!  Speak and own scriptural truth for one’s self!
Reclaim what has been lost and invite Jesus to heal.

John 8 31  “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Ephesians 6  17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

The Truth we believe:

Romans 8   Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

John 8  “If you abide in My word, you are truly My disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

1 John 3 See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!

John 10   Jesus said, 10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

Joshua 1 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

1 Peter 5  Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time.   Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.

Ephesians 2 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Philippians 4 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And  the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Proverbs 3 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;  in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.

"The Lies We Believe!" Part 1 - Agreements?

SERMON NOTES:

“The Lies We Believe!”

Part 1 - Agreements?

Ephesians 6 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist,

John 8 31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free………
44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me!

An agreement, in this sense, happens when we “agree” with an untruth in our inner being.  The enemy often tempts us to enter into agreements in times of vulnerability and weakness and then continues to use them to rob us of joy, hope and life.  They can be deep and long term or mundane even appearing normal.

Help with identifying agreements:

1.       Ask Jesus to help you see what they are.

2.       Pay Attention to your thoughts, words and actions especially when stressed or anxious which include some aspect of judgement or accusation against yourself, God or others!

Agreements can dramatically affect how we interpret daily life - BUT can be renounced, broken and retruthed in the name of Jesus!               “If the Son sets you free you will be free indeed.” – Jesus

1 Peter 5 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith!
