Part 3 "...Because People Still Matter"

SERMON NOTES:

What happened 500 years ago and why does it still matter?

·         In the Reformation God restored His view that every person Matters!

·         Each has significant Value and significant Contributions to make in the church and society!

1 Peter 2 4 As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ….9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Romans 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.

In Jesus we are each Priests!      We get Access and Responsibilities in His Kingdom!

We really do Matter!  We get to show up and make a difference!

Part 2 "...Because Scripture Still Matters"

SERMON NOTES:

What happened 500 years ago and why does it still matter?

The Bible’s - availability was secured and

                      - authorityrestored!

Holy Scripture is God’s inspired Word!

2 Timothy 314 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

·         It claims to be!   It seems to be!  It proves to be!

·         God not only has spoken but is speaking!

·         Scripture was given so we might have a real relationship with God!

How do I live under the authority of Scripture?

“My conscience is captive to the Word of God!” – M. Luther

Part 1 "...Because Grace Still Matters"

SERMON NOTES:

What happened 500 years ago and why does it still matter?

Romans 1  17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

 Our view of God matters!

Romans 5 Therefore, since we have been justified(declared righteous) through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand

Ephesians 2 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

A “GRACE” view of God FREES me to:

·         live “reconciled” to God by faith!  Life is a gift in a world at war!

·         Obey Him because He loves me not so He will love me!

Love others with all the energy I use to burn filling my own holey heart!
